Our Commitments
Two of the things we're proudest of — our Rights Respecting Gold Award, and our vision for a more sustainable school.
Rights Respecting School - Gold Award
Awarded by UNICEF UK
Roe Green Infant School has been awarded Gold by UNICEF UK's Rights Respecting Schools programme. UNICEF is the world's leading organisation working for children and their rights. The award is granted to schools that show commitment to promoting and realising children's rights, and to encouraging adults, children and young people to respect the rights of others in school. Gold is the highest accolade UNICEF UK gives, showing a deep and thorough commitment to children's rights at every level of school life - one shared by over 600 schools across England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

The award recognises achievement in putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart of a school's planning, policies and practice. A Rights Respecting School is a community where children's rights are learned, taught, practised, respected, protected and promoted.

The UNICEF UK Rights Respecting Schools initiative works with nearly 5,000 primary schools, secondary schools, special educational needs settings and pupil referral units across the UK, including early years settings. Schools report a positive impact on pupil behaviour, relationships and wellbeing — enhancing self-esteem, reducing truancy and bullying, and improving learning and academic standards.

Vision Statement for Sustainability
Finding inspiration in every turn
At Roe Green Infant School, we are committed to nurturing responsible, informed, and caring citizens who will make a positive contribution to our world. We recognise the critical role that education plays in shaping a more sustainable future for our pupils, our community, and our planet.

Our vision is to become a leading sustainable school by:
Embedding sustainability across our curriculum so that every child understands the importance of caring for the environment, making responsible choices, and taking action for a better world.
Reducing our environmental footprint by making our school operations greener, from the food we serve to the energy we use and the waste we create.
Empowering our pupils to take part in sustainability initiatives — both in school and in their wider community — developing lifelong habits of environmental stewardship.
Engaging our whole school community — including staff, families and local partners — in our journey towards sustainability, sharing ideas and inspiring change together.
Continuously improving our practices by setting measurable goals, reviewing our progress, and celebrating our successes.
Together, we strive to create a brighter, more sustainable future for Roe Green Infant School and beyond.
Yours sincerely,
