Sports Premium 2025–2026

How we use Sports Premium funding to raise attainment, provision and enjoyment of PE across the school.

Healthy Living

At Roe Green Infant School, we value the importance of regular exercise and a balanced diet in order to ensure a healthy lifestyle. We focus on exercise and healthy eating in many parts of the curriculum, including Physical Education, PSHE, Science and Design Technology. It is also an important part of our school values.

What Have the School Council Found Out?

The School Council are of the opinion that physical activity and sensible diets will help Roe Green children to keep fit and healthy. They thought that facilities such as a challenging climbing trail would help increase the children's confidence, team spirit and friendship circles, and felt that new equipment and specialist PE teachers would help enhance their physical skills and fitness levels.

Sports Funding Will Support

Developing a stimulating PE Curriculum for all pupils and teachers.

Developing PE in EYFS, introducing in-house sporting competitions for Reception and Nursery.

Raising attainment and assessment across the curriculum, with a particular focus on PE.

Professional development focused on movement, giving children with high-level needs access to a wider range of resources.

Current PE Provision at RGI

PE is taught in Foundation Footsteps and PE lessons, including dance, gymnastics and invasion games — Sport Premium funding has purchased the relevant equipment.

Daily circuit training for children with high-level needs.

A competitive Sports Day held each year, with an annual trophy for the winning class.

A weekly minibus trip to a local school, giving KS1 children access to wider resources and specialist teaching.

Sport Premium has also enabled teachers to attend courses focused on increasing activity levels in PE lessons. A subscription to the PE Hub scheme has given teachers the confidence to teach a wider variety of sports, with termly observations and training helping staff grow more confident in their strategies and successfully increase children's activity levels.
